Cast of thousands in Ebor’s Christmas video

A cast of thousands from all 24 schools in Ebor Academy Trust have combined to produce a Christmas video.

Pupils and teachers at schools in York, Selby, on the Yorkshire Coast and in the East Riding and The Humber took the classic festive tune “I Wish it Could Be Christmas Every Day” by Wizzard and sang a line each.

The videos were then spliced together with the original music as a backing track and posted on YouTube. You can see it here:

“A Christmas video is a great opportunity for our children and young people to come together in song,” said Richard Ludlow, Ebor’s chief executive.

“We’re a family of schools and this is the family time of the year. Many of our 6,000 pupils appear in the video.”

There is a diverse range of mainly primary schools in Ebor, with its smallest school, in Easington, in the East Riding, having 37 pupils compared with All Saints’ infants and juniors, in Hessle, having over 730.

Gail Brown, who takes over from Richard, who is retiring, in February next year, said: “We have church schools and community schools, large and small, and it is lovely to see very young children and teenagers with the same purpose of singing their hearts out. In a couple of minutes it shows what makes Ebor, Ebor.”
